Parbold Equestrian Centre

21 Bradshaw Ln, Parbold, Wigan, Lancashire, UK WN8 7NQ

Parbold Equestrian Centre is at the foot of Parbold Hill in Lancashire. It is a place of natural beauty, nestled between the River Douglas and the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Nicola Byrom, BHSII(SM) bought the centre (then Douglas Farm – a small riding school for the disabled), fulfilling her dream to own her own riding school. In October 2001 the centre opened with just 6 horses and even less tack! There are now 32 residents – 25 riding school horses, 3 livery, 4 competition horses, one retired eventer (all now with their own tack!!), three dogs, three cats and three chickens. Nicola’s daughter Carrie joined the team in 2002 after gaining an Honours Degree in Equine Science and Business Management at Myerscough College. PEC is predominantly a riding school with six full time and one part time staff member and five freelance instructors. Working alongside PEC is a Community Interest Company, ‘Stable Lives’ that looks to support disadvantaged children and adults through horse therapy and work on the farm. It is also the home of ‘Carrie Byrom Eventing’ competing throughout the Event Season up to International level.
