3rd Buxton Scout Group is based in Harpur Hill on the southern outskirts of Buxton in the beautiful Peak District. Scouting in Buxton started in 1908 and the history of Scouting in Harpur Hill can be traced back to 1911. Whilst not continuous or with the same identification number 3rd Buxton can trace its modern origins continuously from 1973. Harpur Hill is a quiet and small village on the southern outskirts of Buxton. Evidence of early occupation dates from the Neolithic, the Roman's built a road close by (Aquae Arnemetiae - Derventio).
